QIGONG – a centuries old practice
QiGong (chee gong) can assist in harmonizing
internal Qi circulation through the integration of body, breath, and mind,
while at the same time blending these function(s) with those of our
environment. This fluid integration affords us unique opportunities to
strengthen our lives in terms of maintaining health and preventing disease
(scholar and martial qigong), healing (medical qigong), as well as longevity
and enlightenment (religious qigong). These disciplines have been developed and
practiced in China for centuries, yet their benefits still apply in today’s
modern world.
If you are interested in developing the art and
discipline of qigong, QiGong Studio offers Six
Week Introductory Classes. Students completing the introductory class have
the option of repeating it as often as desired or attending the Continuing
Studies Classes. Each six-week introductory is unique, varying with the mix of
students as well as their needs and interests. This provides an opportunity to
deepen one’s personal experience and understanding of the principles involved.
Fee $60. Based upon enrollment, Introductory sessions are scheduled to begin:
Tuesday, September 2 5:30 - 6:30
p.m.
Thursday,
September 4 7:00 - 8:00
p.m.
There is also the opportunity to continue practicing
qigong by participating in the Continuing
Studies Classes, which focus on instruction, practice, integration and
inspiration while exploring deeper qigong principles and their presence in our
lives. Classes are offered based upon
enrollment:
Tuesday evenings 7:00
– 8:00 p.m.
Thursday evenings 5:30 –
6:30 p.m.
Friday mornings 8:00
– 9:00 a.m.
If any of
these dates and times interest you – either intro or continuing - please leave
Robert a message at the Studio at 945-4545 by Friday morning of the week before
class is to begin, so class schedules can be finalized. If these
dates and times do not fit your schedule, please contact Robert by e-mail or
call the Studio for other options. Other sessions may become available based
upon interest and enrollment. Thank you!…
UNABLE TO FIT
A QIGONG CLASS INTO YOUR SCHEDULE?
PRIVATE INSTRUCTION AVAILABLE
Often a person’s work or home commitments and/or
schedule preclude availability for class attendance. Private instruction is
offered tailored to your time, individual needs and questions. Call or e-mail
Robert to coordinate day and time. Individual instruction fee is $45 per hour.
WANT TO
EXPERIENCE QIGONG BEFORE ENROLLING IN A CLASS?
To help you answer that question and others, we
offer a monthly Studio Sampler on a
Saturday morning at our downstairs Studio location to provide people with an
opportunity to learn about qigong and to give it a try. The instructor, Robert
Leins, will be happy to answer your questions and give you an idea of his
approach to the practice. This is free
to all who are interested. (Flier posted below.)

QIGONG IN THE
PARK was
held at Cascade Park in Bangor on Saturday, June 28 at 10:00 a.m. Although the
fountain and waterfall were not operating that morning, the eight of us that
gathered enjoyed practicing qigong outside under the pines. No one had
anticipated that there would be the sound of traffic in the background, but we
all agreed that as we practiced, we became oblivious to the vehicles passing on
the highway. Experiencing the qi of the trees, earth, and sky while practicing,
provided a real connection with the qi which surrounds us, influences us, and
nourishes us. It was a wonderful
opportunity to feel the vitality of qi in a natural setting.

FROM THE MASSAGE TABLE
Healing Arts
Sessions
offered at QiGong Studio provide an eclectic application of different
techniques dependent upon client needs, making each session a truly unique
experience.
At times just a relaxing
massage is appropriate which may incorporate some Swedish massage, Reiki,
and qigong massage.
A therapeutic
massage may address specific muscles or muscle groups. These sessions may
include some Swedish massage techniques, trigger point releases, stretches and
holds, and/or deep tissue work.
Qigong massage soothes the mind and
relaxes the body. Beginning at the
head, working down the torso, arms and legs, ending at the feet. This process releases stagnant qi and
smoothes qi flow between body, breath, and mind, vitalizing the shen or spirit.
Reiki, applied hands on and/or in
the ki field surrounding the body, releases ki that has become trapped,
relaxing both body and mind, while releasing emotional and/or physical
discomfort.
Sessions are offered for various lengths of time and
prices:
40 minute session $35
60 minute session $55
90 minute session $70
FROM THE MAT In Thai Massage the recipient lies on a mat or firm mattress on the
floor and is guided into yoga-like
positions. In the northern style there are a lot of stretching
movements to open the joints and relax the soft tissue, whereas in the southern style emphasis is
given to the Sen (comparable to Chinese meridians) improving the circulation of
the vital force.
60 minute session $60
90 minute session $75

REIKI XChange
Saturday,
September 13 4:00 – 6:30 p.m.
$5 participation fee
RSVP appreciated
The intent of the XChange is to give
those of us with Reiki Training an opportunity to ask questions, share experiences,
stretch the mind, review and practice.
The format for the XChange is informal
and relaxed. We spend time chatting, sharing experiences folks have had in
their Reiki practice, and how we are attempting to integrate Reiki into our
daily lives. Occasionally we have specific
discussion topics.
Practice Sessions
We follow with short Reiki practice sessions.
Sometimes we incorporate new techniques into the session, although most times,
it is just an opportunity to work with another practitioner.
Afterwards: For those who can stay longer than the 2 ˝
hrs, we often spend time enjoying snacks and friendly chatter until we finally
have to tear ourselves away and return to the world outside.

INTERESTED IN
REIKI TRAINING? Please contact Vernita
Leins, Reiki Master/Teacher at QiGong Studio. Reiki Level I and other Reiki
Levels including Karunaâ Reiki Trainings are
scheduled upon request. Trainings can be one day, two day, or a few hours
spread over a few days, weeks, or weekends. Day or evening classes available.
We use this approach to accommodate people’s busy lives.
