Reiki Master

Vernita Leins has a B.A. and is a Reiki Master/Teacher, Karuna Reiki® Master, Licensed Massage Therapist, Structural Integrator, and Qigong Instructor. She has been practicing Reiki, since she was first attuned in Level I in 1996 from the late Reiki Master Howard McFarland of Bangor. In 2000 Vernita opened her Reiki practice part-time and began not only teaching within the same year but providing both hands-on and distance Reiki sessions to her clients as well as to participants at community health fairs, conferences, meetings and support groups. For a year or so she volunteered in the newly formed Reiki program at Eastern Maine Medical Center until her full-time client schedule prevented her from continuing. Since 2010 she teaches and empowers Reiki Levels I and II to students at the Therapeutic Bodywork and Learning Center in Bangor  www.mainemassageschool.com.

Initially during Reiki sessions with clients, Vernita often found herself gently massaging tight, sore necks and shoulders. That inspired her to take massage training. “As I had little time to study due to a full time job and unexpected personal responsibilities,” she says,” I would do a short Reiki meditation before and after doing my homework or taking a test. I always say that Reiki pushed me into learning massage as well as successfully getting me through school!” She has been a Maine licensed massage therapist since 2003 and has just currently completed a 500+ hour course in Structural Integration in June 2011.

Humans are not the only ones who can benefit from receiving Reiki healing. Vernita has provided Reiki healing to various cats, dogs, a horse, and other domestic and wild animals with amazing results. Additionally, her flower and vegetable gardens receive Reiki regularly as she works with not only the plants but the soil as well.

Most importantly, Reiki is inherent within the nature of her personal and self-empowerment practices. Along with qigong and meditation, Reiki is a door, which opens her to the greater gifts of spirit (shen) and teaches her to listen to its teachings not only with the hands but with inner ears, inner sight and heart.

Vernita states, “As essence, Reiki is boundless, neither defined nor limited by manmade concepts of time and space. It is as universal as the resonate nature of atoms, and as individual as the sparkling points of sunlight on a rippled pond. In a sense, it is unlimited in its ability to motivate, empower, support, heal, leaving it up to each of us to fine tune our lives to its nature and to integrate that which we hear into our daily actions.”

“I learn from its internal teachings,” she adds, “as well as from books and workshops. The integration of both awaken within me a deeper understanding that both broadens and illuminates my perspective. Combined, they are givers and receivers of knowledge.”
